A Grand Hotel Cafe Disaster

 

For the first time in my life, Too Faced hasn't lived up to my expectations, as I was rather disappointed with the Grand Hotel Cafe eyeshadow palettes. Despite my excitement for the release AND being a huge fan of the brand, I didn't think it was worth the hype... or the investment!

To be perfectly honest, there are smarter ways of splurging on a beauty product. These shadows were not as pigmented and bendable as the Too Faced formulas we all know and love. Being an entertainment journalist and often seen on camera, I am exposed to a number of products I personally use on a daily basis... So it's safe to say I have given them a fair try!

I thought the shimmers lacked pigmentation and didn't give a uniform color. They seemed chalkier than what is normally expected from the brand. The blushers are nice, and the Gingerbread Cookie Bronzer is absolutely gorgeous (I have even used it in my everyday makeup tutorial). However, buying an entire set for 2 blushers and a bronzer is not the way to go.  

I appreciate the efforts in creating something that is beautiful, smells delicious and is packaged in the adorable, expected Too Faced way we all love. The packaging, along with the color choices were combined with taste, elegance, and a festive touch! Shame the creation of the collection was not focused on the product (or actual makeup) this time. 

That said, Too Faced hasn't got this one completely wrong... The Limited Edition Melted Matte Lipstick in 'Peppermint Mocha' isn't only one of the best lip colors I've purchased, it is also the most delicious scent I have ever worn on my lips. Despite being a holiday collection item,  it has now become my go-to red. I'm sure I will be wearing it all winter, spring, and who knows, maybe even summer?
